Oh Pain, a Stain: Resin and Wax on Laminate Flooring

  • Kategorie: General, Products

15. December 2015 | How to remove wax and resin from your laminate floor

What would Christmas be without the scent of pine? And the flickering glow of candles? Not bad at all, right? Unfortunately, it can be quite annoying when wax or resin drips on to your laminate floor. But don’t worry – we’re about to share with you the secret of how to get it clean and spotless again.

In any case, it’s a good idea to spread a blanket or gift paper under your Christmas tree to protect the floor from pine needles, wax and resin. Even then, something might miss it and stick to the laminate. But it doesn’t really matter, because there are simple ways to clean your KRONOTEX laminate flooring of wax and resin:

  1. First let the wax or resin completely dry and cool. Don’t try to wipe still-warm wax or fresh resin off. You will only wind up smearing it or pressing it deeper into the surface structure.
  2. Use a blunt object to remove most of the wax or resin by gently scratching it.
  3. Any wax that has smeared or penetrated into the surface structure can be got rid of by briefly heating it with hot water or a hair dryer. Then you can soak up the liquid wax and dry the laminate with a paper towel or blotting paper.
  4. The best way to remove resin stains is with a cosmetic tissue or cotton pad and acetone-based nail polish remover. Then wipe the floor clean with a towel.

In other words, there’s no reason to let dripping wax or resin stains ruin your mood. We wish you a wonderful holiday season and a very merry Christmas!
