Kronotherm sound
Footfall Sound Insulation Board
Stability under pressure in combination with elastic behaviour are the crucial characteristics for highly effective surround sound panel under parquet and laminate flooring. The newly developed manufacturing technology from Kronotherm sound fulfils these requirements in an ideal fashion. Kronotherm TS comprises natural wood fibres which are meshed together in a three-dimensional pattern in a process which has minimal impact on the environment using environmentally-friendly binding fibres.
KRONOTHERM SOUND ensures under all parquet and laminate flooring that the customary high-pitched frequency ranges with high-expansion foam are shifted to deeper frequency ranges which are much easier on the human ear. This means substantially improved sense of wellbeing in the room.

In addition, laying Kronotherm sound substantially improves foot fall insulation. This means less transmission of sound to dwellings below and thus an increase in living quality and a reduction in noise pollution. Kronotherm sound achieves for the intensity of 5 mm a foot fall improvement if ΔLw=21 dB. The investigations were carried out in accordance with DIN EN ISO 140-8.
The improvement of the noise level with the use of Kronotherm sound is assessed as follows: + 0.5 dB(A) – improvement only perceptible under good acoustic conditions + 1.0 dB(A) – perceptible threshold for improvement + 3.0 dB(A) – halving signal energy + 6.0 dB(A) – halving the noise level
+ 10.0 dB(A) – halving subjective loudness
Due to its stability and resistance to pressure, Kronotherm sound is ideally suited for use in systems which do not use adhesives. The most stringent test to investigate the bond with these laying systems and the associated documentation is the castor chair test. An extensive series of tests was carried out in close cooperation with Kronotex Fußboden GmbH & Co. KG, the leading manufacturer of laminate floors in the world, which have served to emphasise the excellent suitability of Kronotherm TS. With its characteristics, Kronotherm TS is suitable to almost every other commercially available underlay material.
Kronotherm sound is very easy to process, is dust and fibre-free and is suitable for use above hotwater floor heating systems.
Kronotherm sound is permanently and inherently stable and can absorb unevenness in the floor or contamination up to 3 mm without creating sound bridges and in such a way that the sound characteristics are permanently prevented.
In addition, Kronotherm sound is characterised in particular by being very pleasant to the touch and kind to the skin, the latter being confirmed in a report.
