The website at www.kronotex.com can now also be viewed in Russian. For quite a while it has been available in German, English and Spanish, and now its translation into Russia has marked yet another milestone.
Russia: a Land of Increasing Purchasing Power
For several years now, the SWISS KRONO GROUP has been watching its sales grow in the Eastern European market. Exhibits by the entire corporate group at the MosBuild trade fair in Moscow have confirmed the trend: Eastern Europeans are showing intense interest in the innovative laminates that KRONOTEX produces from wood. “It was high time for us to translate our online offering in order to more systematically reach customers and prospects in the Russian-speaking part of the world in their own language,” explains David Hussey, the sales director at KRONOTEX. “Our aims in taking this step are to increase awareness of the KRONOTEX brand, win a greater share of the Eastern European market, and expand our sales network.”
The potential of the Russian market is revealed by a glance at the figures: a population of 143 million people, 85 percent of which live in the European part of the country, which is only a quarter of Russia’s overall land area. In 1999 Russia had the world’s 22nd-largest economy, but it has meanwhile advanced to ninth place. A declining inflation rate and rising wages, both of which are increasing the population’s purchasing power, are the two main drivers of the dynamically growing Russian market. And the country’s impending accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) will additionally facilitate trade with the rest of the world.
