Repairing Laminate Floors: Fix Little Problems Yourself with KRONOTEX

Even the most rugged laminate flooring isn’t invulnerable – over time, it can acquire signs of use such as tiny scratches from moving chairs around, scuff marks left by dark shoe soles etc. Fortunately, it’s virtually effortless for you to fix these minor flaws yourself. The following examples illustrate the best techniques for removing scrapes, scratches and so on:

Quickly Eliminating Scuff Marks from Shoes

Black streaks left by shoes on light-coloured laminate flooring definitely don’t look good. But they can be simply and easily removed – using an ordinary pencil rubber. Larger and more stubborn scuff marks will yield to a special stain remover sold in stores (but make sure it is suitable for use on laminate flooring by reading the instructions and testing it on a small, inconspicuous sport first).

Getting Rid of Superficial Scratches

Especially in commercial facilities like conference rooms and retail outlets, furniture is often moved around. This almost inevitably results in scratches. But a bit of olive and baby oil can work wonders. In order for this method to function well, make sure the floor is clean. Use a cloth to rub a small amount of oil into the damaged area. Afterwards thoroughly remove any excess so no-one can slip and fall.

Repairing Deep Scratches

Repairing deeper scratches or dents calls for somewhat more work. Wax sticks are available in various colours to match different wood and stone laminate decors. Melt the wax and use it to fill the depressions. After it has hardened, carefully remove the excess with a plane (which is usually included in the repair kit) until the surface is level again.

If your laminate floor suffers more serious damage, such as swollen or warped panels or scratch marks over a large area, consult a specialist.
